How to use POE Flip Finder — a step-by-step guide for beginners
POE Flip Finder has 4 main tabs: Potential Predictions, Flip Opportunities, Trends and Watchlist. All of them read the same continuously collected data — you just pick the game, league and market you care about, and the tool does the math. This guide walks through each tab plus tips for getting the most out of it.
1. The filters — pick the right market first
Before analyzing, set 3 things in the filter bar at the top: GAME (POE 1 or POE 2 — two independent economies), LEAGUE (temporary league or Standard) and MARKET (Currency, Fragment, Scarab, Essence...). Each tab remembers your selection separately, so switching tabs doesn't reset it. Hit ⟳ Analyze to load data — turn on Auto refresh 5 min so the board picks up the newest hourly bucket as soon as it lands.
⏱ Data updates HOURLY — how to read the "snapshot" time
Prices on this board are hourly summaries of real trades from the game servers. How the feed works determines how you read the update time:
- Each bucket = every trade inside one hourly window, e.g. the 14:00 bucket holds all deals from 14:00 → 15:00. The server only finalizes a bucket once that hour closes — so the hour currently in progress never has data yet.
- The LATEST DATA card (Predictions) and the UPDATED card (Flip) show the most recently finalized bucket: if it's 16:11 right now, the newest bucket is 15:00 (data 14:00→15:00) — always up to ~1 hour behind your clock. That's the nature of an hourly feed, not an outage.
- Times render in the timezone you pick in the small selector next to each clock (default UTC+7). Bucket 15:00 at +7 = 08:00 UTC.
2. Potential Predictions tab — find what to buy
Every item gets a potential score 0–100 built from multiple market factors (price momentum, volume, stability, trend) plus a suggested action: BUY (strong signal, double-verified), WATCH (decent score, not at the buy threshold yet) or WAIT. Use the Min potential filter to see only the BUY group, or switch the analysis window between 6h/24h/3d/7d for short-term vs long-term views. Double-click a row to open that item's price + spread history chart.
What the 5 stat cards above the table mean
- TOP POTENTIAL — the highest-scoring item of the current analysis window, with its score and current price. This is candidate #1 to look at.
- BUY SIGNALS — how many items reach the BUY level. BUY must pass 2 layers of verification (high score and a still-positive price projection under the cautious scenario), so this number stays small — small but high quality.
- WATCHING — items scoring 50–69: not strong enough to buy yet, but worth putting on your radar while waiting for confirmation.
- MOST UNUSUAL — the item currently deviating most from its own recent habit (unit: standard deviations). Spreads naturally widen and narrow; this card lights up when an item behaves very differently from its usual self, e.g. its buy-sell gap suddenly blows out. It is an anomaly warning light, not a buy suggestion — open that item's chart before acting. Note: in the first days of a league the history is too short for this number to mean anything.
- LATEST DATA — the most recently finalized bucket (see the ⏱ section above). If this time lags far behind now, the feed is interrupted and every indicator is only indicative.
What the table columns mean
- Score — potential score 0–100; the bar underneath — longer and greener means a stronger signal. Above 70 is the BUY zone, 50–69 the WATCH zone.
- Suggestion — the action verdict: BUY / WATCH / WAIT.
- Price (data age) — latest traded price, in each game's native currency (chaos for POE 1, exalt for POE 2). In front of each price is the time of its last trade with a colored dot: ● green under 2h (matches the live game), ● yellow 2–6h, ● gray over 6h — the item trades rarely so its price is stale; think twice before acting on it.
- Momentum %/day — rate of price change: green rising, red falling. +2%/day means: at this pace the price gains ~2% per day.
- 24h projection (confidence range) — where the price lands in 24h if the current trend continues, with a range around it; the tighter the range, the more consistent the data and the more trustworthy the projection. A wide range means the price has been swinging hard recently → less certain.
- Spread/vol anomaly — two numbers comparing current behavior with the item's own habit: the first is the buy-sell gap, the second trading volume. Higher (around +1 and up) is noteworthy; near 0 is entirely normal.
- Stability — how much prices wobble around their path: a smaller % means steadier prices and more reliable predictions; a large % means jumpy, erratic movement.
- Avg volume — average trading volume per recorded snapshot. Low volume means prices are easy to manipulate and hard to sell into when you need to exit.
- Trend — recent cumulative change from the data source: ↑ green = being bought up, ↓ red = being sold off.
- The z! mark next to an item name — an anomaly signal is active (spread anomaly is high). Inspect these carefully: it can be a speculation opportunity or a dump about to end.
3. Flip Opportunities tab — profit math on your own capital
This tab lists buy/sell pairs whose spread is wide enough to profit after fees. The key feature: enter your capital along with its currency — POE 1 takes Chaos or Divine, POE 2 takes Exalted / Divine / Chaos (early in a POE 2 league most trading happens in Exalted) — the tool converts it to the market's native unit at the latest exchange rate, then computes how many you can buy and profit per round the way you actually trade. Add your buy discount and sell premium so buy/sell prices reflect your real listing habits. Click any column header to sort by it.
What the columns / stat cards of the Flip tab mean
- Buy / Sell — the bid price you place and the ask price you list at, derived from the market price using the −%/+% you enter. Spread = the gap between these two.
- Profit/round — estimated net profit for one full buy-then-sell cycle using your entered capital (price difference already deducted).
- Price age — same freshness indicator as the Predictions tab: a green dot under 2h means the price matches the live game, gray over 6h means the item rarely trades and the price is stale.
- Confidence — a 0–100 scale of how thick the item's trading data is: the higher, the easier it is to actually trade at the recorded prices.
- Listings — open orders currently listed. Thick listings + good volume = real liquidity; thin listings mean the recorded price may just be 1–2 sellers.
- The small 1 Divine ≈ … line under the EST. PROFIT card — the exchange rate just used (only shown when your capital currency differs from the market's native unit). A red buy price means one item costs more than your entire entered capital.
- The BEST SPREAD card — the widest buy-sell gap after filtering; OPPORTUNITIES — total items passing the filter; EST. PROFIT — the estimated net profit of the best item if you cycle your full capital through it.
4. Trends tab — watch the deltas over time
The Trends tab shows how much each item is rising or falling per day (Δ Price), along with Δ Spread and total volume. Items with positive Δ Spread plus real rising volume are often an opening opportunity — get in early before the crowd notices. Use a longer window (3–7 days) to filter out short-term noise.
What the Trends tab columns mean
- Current Spread / Avg Spread — the latest buy-sell gap versus the average over the whole window. Current > average = the gap is widening.
- Δ Spread — the difference between those two numbers (%): positive = the spread is opening up beyond its habit, negative = tightening.
- Buy Price / Δ Price — the latest buy price and its rate of change per day: green up / red down.
- Total Volume / Samples — combined trading volume and how many snapshots the system recorded in the window. More samples make the deltas more trustworthy.
5. Watchlist tab — save items you care about to your account
Tick the checkbox in the first column of any board to add that item to your watchlist — the first time, you'll be guided to sign up / log in (just a username + email + password) and create a profile. Each account can hold multiple profiles (e.g. "Early league", "Long term"). Inside the Watchlist tab, items still show the latest score + suggestion on every refresh, with a ✕ button to unfollow quickly.
6. Tips for effective use
- Let data accumulate for a few days after a new league starts — predictions rely on history; more samples mean more accuracy.
- Combine all 3 tabs before buying: a high score in Predictions + a healthy spread in Flip + positive deltas in Trends = the most trustworthy signal.
- Copy item names with the copy button in each row's first column, then paste straight into the in-game trade search.
- Check the chart before deciding — double-click any row to see how price and spread have moved over the last 14 days.
- Switch VI/EN language with the button in the top-right corner at any time.
